About the Pilot
During the 2006-2007 school year, Kentucky is implementing
a state-wide coaching model for K-12 mathematics. One major goal of
the coaching program is to create an environment for supporting
high-quality mathematics instruction by enhancing the beliefs and
attitudes of students, teachers, instructors, faculty,
administrators, parents and community members about mathematics. The
Futures Channel is partnering with the Kentucky Center for
Mathematics to support this goal, by providing a selection of
Futures Channel Movies that show a wide range of fascinating
examples of real world mathematics, with accompanying Movie Guides
that include over 600 real world mathematics problems and
activities.
