Recruiting Additional Online PD Facilitators for e-Learning Kentucky

e-Learning for Educators, funded through a 4.6 million US Department of Education Ready to Teach grant, is a multi-state collaboration between eight state education agencies and associated public broadcast stations. Kentucky is one of the eight states fortunate enough to have access to this high-quality online professional development for educators. The Kentucky initiative, called e-Learning Kentucky, resides in the Kentucky Virtual Schools, a project of the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE).

In January e-Learning Kentucky will have the third opportunity to recruit and train twelve Kentucky educators interested in facilitating online professional development courses. In partnership with EDC (Education Development Center) in Boston, e-Learning KY will select and train facilitators through a rigorous 11-week online course. Criteria necessary for future course facilitators include:

    • Interest in facilitating online professional development courses for e-Learning KY, KYVS

    • Strong content and pedagogical knowledge and experience
    • Willingness to commit 4 to 6 hours each week for the 11 week online course January 30 – April 9. 2008
    • Willingness to commit to facilitating at least one 7-week online workshop following training. (You will receive a stipend for this work and the preference is this requirement be done during our ‘08 Summer PD session.)
    • Interest in joining the e-Learning Kentucky PD Provider team and continuing to facilitate online PD courses
